Restaurant was top quality with a good menu and excellently cooked food. Great easy access to the Cairngorm mountains
Room was cramped and bathroom very poor with loose towel rail and a tiny space. Very few facilities - one piece of soap for two people. Not really up to standar for such a high priced room.
Staff and there helpfullness
Such an interesting area, distilleries, mountains, beautiful rivers breathtaking scenery and such peace and quiet after the rat race of southern England, Good food and scottish hospitalty
Was everything that it said on the label, nothis isn't a 5 star fancy hotel, but the food was good and honest, perhaps not gourmet, the staff were lovely, and the room clean and functional. It was cheap and made a very comfortable base from which toexplore Abernethy Forest.
The hotel relies upon bus tours for business, which sometimes means you have to listen to a piper rather than have a conversation with you dining companion, but this is a small gripe,it was a very pleasant stay.
I was apprehensive after the poorish reviews but as we needed to be in the area that weekend, we decided to go. We had a good sized nicely furnished room which was very comfortable. There was an attractive bar and foyer area and breakfast was very acceptable. Staff were all pleasant. The bathroom arrangement was eccentric but this is a Victorian building. All in all a comfortable night's stay.
The shower did lack any sort of pressure and I do agree that the outside paintwork could do with a freshen up. First impressions are important and could be solved by a simple coat of paint!
The room was huge. We had booked a double room but instead had a room with 3 single beds and there was still plenty of space - an excellent family room. We didn't complain because we did book late and the room was very spacious. Excellent food and a nice atmosphere in the bar area and plenty of room to park your car.
On arrival the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful. However, we hadn't booked evening meal and the attitude of the restaurant staff was very poor. We did, however, manage to get a table and the food was excellent and good value.
The staff were friendly, helpful and competent. The food was excellent and well presented. We enjoyed the walks in the forests around the hotel and the relaxed atmosphere in the hoitel itself. Having previously spent holidays at busy hotels in nearby Aviemore the peace and quiet was appreciated. We hope to come back again.
Very comfortable, good food and the staff were very friendly also great entertainment
Friendly staff, good clean rooms and good value food.
Twin bed room was not large enough to take an extra bed as requested, had to have family room that had no water so given an extra room to shower in, so got there in end but meant a mix up for first hour moving rooms!
The hotel was very well placed for travelling around the start of the highlands, the hotel was a nice size and very attentive staff, the food was of a very good standard although a little expensive.
At the craiglynne hotel most of the staff we had met were of foriegners and sometimes hard to understand. The room and ensuite was in need of modernising as parts were not fixed properly and loose. The bed was like sleeping on a concrete floor very hard and did not sleep well at all. Parking at the hotel was very poor if you own a large 4 wheel drive or a big car.
The Hotel is obviously catering mainly for coach tours. This having been said there was no slow service at breakfast. The staff are very focussed on their individual jobs. They are team players and complement each other very well. They work very hard to please the customers and suceed.
The only issue we had all week was the fact that we could'nt get a sandwich in the evening; aWe were informed that there are no kitchen staff after this time.
Very comfortable Hotel. Very friendly, nice staff. Excellent food.
Bed was harder than we are used to and caused some wakefullness.
Relaxed and friendly value for money good breakfast griendly breakfast staff
Oue window looked out onto a brick wall!! But know that can t be helped
